This two-hour lecture focuses on the key modalities of electrolysis: Thermolysis, Blend, and Electrolysis. The discussion will cover when and why to use each modality for maximum progress in hair removal treatments. The course will also dive into the evolution of insertion
techniques, advancements in thermolysis and epilator technology, and the integration of client feedback for refining treatment outcomes. Additionally, we will discuss how electrolysis and laser treatments complement each other, the advantages and limitations of each modality, and practical tips for collaborating with other practitioners.
Speaker Biography
Stephanie Shields, a seasoned professional in electrology and laser treatments, embarked on her career journey in 2003 as a practitioner and later assumed ownership of Zap Master Electrology. Delving into the field during her 11th-grade apprenticeship with her mother, she became not only a dedicated electrologist but also an eloquent advocate for her family practice.
In 2011, driven by the desire to empower the next generation of Electrologists, Stephanie Shields expanded her focus beyond the treatment room by commencing teaching through various continuing education platforms. Her dedication to mentorship took a significant turn in 2020 when her husband, Michael Shields, joined her side. Together, they synergized their special set of skills to not only grow their practice but also to envision and implement a broader impact on the Electrology world. This collaborative effort reflects their shared commitment to advancing the field and shaping a positive future for Electrologists.
Notably, Stephanie's commitment to the electrology industry extended beyond her clinic. Serving on the Board of Directors as Delegate at Large and the Executive Committee as 3rd Vice President for the American Electrology Association, she demonstrated her dedication to advancing the profession. In 2014, she earned the prestigious Ballet Gold Probe Award and the "AEA President’s Award" in recognition of her outstanding service.
In June 2023, Stephanie Shields co-founded the Electrology Education Coalition, further solidifying her commitment to education and advocacy within the field. Her daily work, particularly with clients facing PCOS and Gender Affirming Care, remains a gratifying aspect of her professional journey.
In late 2023, Stephanie and Michael Shields, driven by their commitment to excellence, made a strategic decision to elevate their Electrology school. Expanding beyond education, they integrated a clinic and distribution center into their venture. The Shields, unwavering in their dedication, aim not only to deliver safe and effective treatments to clinic patients but also to positively impact the industry at large.
Their vision extends beyond the treatment room, as they have curated a selection of state-of-the-art products, machines, and more through Zap Master distribution. This initiative reflects their commitment to advancing the field, ensuring access to cutting-edge resources for practitioners and enthusiasts alike.
